Success Through the OWSA Cruising Study Groups
Led by Cruising Coordinator Julie Demaree, another cohort of OWSA women participated in Cruising Study Groups during the 2023/24 winter. In May, two members of the daytime Study Group, Debra Burke and Rosemary Reeves, along with OWSA member Bernadette LeLevier completed certification for American Sailing Association courses ASA 101, ASA 103, and ASA 104 through the San Juan Sailing School. BOAST Member Spotlight: Julie Cumiford
From beginner sailor to boat owner, Julie (one of four OWSA Julies) joined BOAST last year, intent on becoming more comfortable with being in charge of a boat. OWSA Acquires a New Sailboat - The Calypte
OWSA maintains a small fleet of sailboats on the Columbia for use in educational programs including classes on sailing & boat maintenance and for the BOAST Program. The exciting news is that we have acquired a new sailboat, the Calypte -- an Ericson 27 that was built in 1973.
