Join our Sailing Basics class!
Learn or review the basics of sailing in a fun and supportive classroom atmosphere. OWSAs convenient evening classes introduce nautical terminology, points of sail, basic navigation rules, weather, safety, knot tying, chart plotting and more over 7 weeks. This is a perfect course for a beginner sailor and there will be optional Education Sails. Most classes run 6:30pm - 9:30pm, with the exception of the dockside class and Education Sails. Class

In order to gain credentials, or to introduce yourself to a prospective skipper/crew, a sailing log is a usual mechanism people use to establish their sailing experience. Alice Patten Honored With Lifetime OWSA Membership Award
Over the past 30 years OWSA has grown into an organization with ~250 members, teaching women to sail and providing opportunities to build their sailing skills and network to get more time on the water. As an all volunteer organization this is only possible when members continually and fully participate. Success Through the OWSA Cruising Study Groups
Led by Cruising Coordinator Julie Demaree, another cohort of OWSA women participated in Cruising Study Groups during the 2023/24 winter. In May, two members of the daytime Study Group, Debra Burke and Rosemary Reeves, along with OWSA member Bernadette LeLevier completed certification for American Sailing Association courses ASA 101, ASA 103, and ASA 104 through the San Juan Sailing School.
