Volunteerism is the wind in OWSA's Sails. The wide variety of programs offer opportunities to teach, lead, and learn new skills. Our talented members volunteer their time and energy to run the programs offered to our membership. Not only do members benefit, but volunteerism is extended to the broader sailing community as well.
We appreciate our membership support, time and heart, because you make OWSA possible. OWSA is an all volunteer organization, we have no paid employees and we rely on you to contribute your time and energy to one of our many volunteer roles we need to fill. Which opportunity most interests you?
Current Opportunities:
Programs
Cruising Coordinator, contact Candice at programs@owsa.net
- Requirements: Chartering experience
- Role: Coordinate ASA study groups. Facilitate matching skippers and crews for local or travel related cruising.
Boat Wrangler, contact Candice at programs@owsa.net
- Requirements: Engagement with the sailing community
- Role: Recruits skippers for WNS and other OWSA events. Maintains skipper records.
Social/Membership
Fireside Guppy, contact Carisa at fireside@owsa.net
- Requirements: Desire to share the magic of OWSA with new and seasoned members
- Role: Help coordinate and host quarterly Fireside/New Member Orientations. Firesides are for all members!
- Great opportunity to work with Carisa and learn the ropes to host a Fireside Event!
Marketing/Fundraising
Fundraising Coordinator, contact Erika at marketing@owsa.net
- Requirements: Experience raising money; grant writing, event planning.
- Role: Identifies and applies for grants. Plans and hosts fundraising events.
Education
Race Assistant, contact Janiece at treasurer@owsa.net
- Requirements: Race experience
- Role: Assists with OWSA's annual race clinic.
- Great opportunity to co-lead this year with Janiece!
Operations
Technology Coordinator, contact Kathy at operations@owsa.net
- Requirements: Experience with Google Workspace, interest in learning new software and ability to troubleshoot problems.
- Role: Administrates OWSA's software and helps users.

Logging Volunteer Hours:
OWSA could not provide the great sailing opportunities it offers without our amazing volunteers. We appreciate you and need your help ensuring you are logging your volunteer hours. This supports our 501c3 requirements, helps recognize our exceptional volunteers and informs volunteer recruitment.
To log your hours, simply login to owsa.net, go to the member portal and log your hours. You can do this once a month and summarize your volunteer activities or add an entry for volunteer activities for individual events. If you have any questions, please contact volunteer@owsa.net.
