Pray For Wind Party
Pray for Wind (and Bring a Friend) Party
Party starts February 17 immediately after Sailing on Sunday from approximately 3-7 or so at Portland Yacht Club. The bar and kitchen will be open to purchase food and drink. There may be a speaker.
The event is sort of sponsored by CYC and PYC under the auspices of OCSA, but really it is everyone working together to get folks excited for the new year, network, and bring new folks into the sailing community.
The format is best described by analogy as a “jobs fair” trade show kind of thing. It’s a party, but it’s also a time to introduce fellow sailors to your club, association, fleet, or non-sailor friends and colleagues to the sailing community. In other words, we would like participating clubs and fleets to simply set up a table with a person at the party to answer questions about your fleet and encourage enrollment or participation in the fleet or club. The party is OPEN TO ANYONE - sailors, non-sailors, novice sailors, wanna be sailors, cruisers, racers, sit at the dock and have a cocktail boat folks, anyone. You don’t have to be a member of anything to stop by, meet folks, and have an adult beverage. The point is to spread the word that sailing in Portland is alive and well and there are lots of opportunities to sail or learn to sail. Getting into sailing and staying in the game is about networking and this will be a great opportunity to network. Want to race on Monday nights? Talk to ISC. Want to race on the Offshore? - Talk to CYC. Want to join a yacht club with a great clubhouse, good food, and great drinks as well as solid sailing? Talk to PYC. You got it.
See you all there!
