Cruising Program: How to Charter a Boat
AS A PART OF THE NEW CRUISING PROGRAM ATTEND THIS SESSION ON HOW TO CHARTER A BOAT
A sailing cruise requires 4 things:
- Somewhere to cruise
- A crew
- A skipper
- A cruising boat
The San Juan Islands enticingly nearby OWSA can supply crew. Almost forty OWSA members are studying to get a bareboat skipper certification this spring, which will give them the ability to charter a boat. Topics will include choosing a charter company, choosing a boat, contract issues including insurance, the boat orientation process, suggested easy cruising grounds and crew duty lists examples.
Although designed for new bareboat skippers and most appropriate for intermediate and advanced sailors, this informational session is available to all ladies interested in cruising. Pre-registration is not required. A donation of $10 will be requested onsite to help defray costs of the classroom.
At the conclusion of the class, a recap of the cruising program will be given with an update on the study groups and opportunities for input on suggested changes.
