Slate of Directors 2020
Join us for the Annual Meeting on October 9th to elect the new Board of Directors for 2020. The Slate of Directors put forward by the Nominating Committee for the three open Board Positions are:
Running for Board of Directors (Vice Commodore) As soon as Jennifer Wiseman heard about OWSA she knew she wanted to get involved and immediately volunteered as the Class Registrar. Since January 2018 she has also been a regular sailor and participant in the BOAST Program. She has skippered boats, crewed, run main, foredeck and trimmed jib. She has become a proficient sailor and first mate and is starting to mentor other new sailors with the crew aboard Picaroon and Hoodview. She loves the encouragement and support she has found in OWSA and would love nothing more than to continue to pay it forward. Jen has the dedication to get the job done and proudly served as the Education Director in 2019 and looks forward to continuing to support the future direction of OWSA.
Running for Board of Directors (Secretary) Carin Berg has been an OWSA member for over five years and she values everything OWSA has given her, including the opportunities to sail and meet other like-minded sailors. She values giving back to an organization she feels like has given her so much, and she has volunteered in several roles previously. She loves getting on the water sailing every chance she gets and has enjoyed racing which gives her the chance to continue to fine tune her skills. She enjoys the sailing community and the many special relationships she has developed with fellow sailors. She has learned more than she anticipated about boats after purchasing her beautiful boat, Grey Riesling.
Running for Board of Directors (Secretary) Liv Ormond has been an OWSA member since 2010. Some of her accomplishments include Sail for the cure donation chair two years collecting more than $20,000 in tangible donated items and services, Skipper Vetter since 2013, Wednesday night Skipper since 2015, Volunteer committee boat for Beer Can races, Skipper for sail for the cure and sail for a cause several years, OWSA Education sailing instructor, Volunteer First Meet and Skipper for Cool maneuvers several years, Guest speaker at general meeting regarding Alaska trip.
Running for Board of Directors (Treasurer) Tanya Seeley is currently serving on the OWSA Board as Treasurer and has graciously agreed to help continue facilitating a financial review process she initiated with a non-profit accountant. She has lived most of her life in the Pacific Northwest, and has always loved being around water. Growing up if she wasnt on horseback, she was in her neighbor's swimming pool! Later she spent summers with friends on the Willamette river water skiing and wake boarding. Most recently she discovered sailing and has looked for ways to be able to continue sailing. She learned about OWSA while shopping at West Marine and thought that OWSA was exactly what she was looking for and joined soon after. She has been an OWSA member for three years now.
