Sailing Basics (Women Only)

Try an exciting new sport this year! Learn about sailing in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Establish new friendships while gaining a basic understanding of sailing. We offer a convenient evening classroom and interactive practice sessions. Save some Saturdays between class dates for optional rides on a sailboat. Includes Basic Keelboat text by US Sailing. Topics include terminology, points of sail, basic navigation rules, weather, safety, charts, navigation, knots, and more!

Cool Maneuvers (Women Only)

Learn about the skills you need to get the boat out of the marina! This two night class prepares you for driving a sailboat, setting an anchor, docking, using VHF and understanding water & wind influences on a boat. When you’ve completed both nights of class, sign up for the optional Maneuvering Practical scheduled for Sunday, April 25. Includes Basic Cruising Text by US sailing. Prerequisite: Any basic sailing class or instructor approval.

Women's Cruising Class (Members Only)

Investigate the fundamentals of cruising the river. You are student and presenter as you research topics and share information with class mates. Topics change each year. Bring your boat. No boat? Attend each classroom session and we will find you a boat on which to prep and cruise. Includes Basic Cruising by US Sailing. Register 3 weeks early and we'll find you a boat. Question? Basic Spinnaker Handling (Coed)

This basic class introduces you to spinnaker handling. It includes terminology, sets, drops, jibes, trimming and sailing angles for both symmetrical and asymmetrical (including cruising) sails. One evening in the classroom, and one evening of actual sail-handling dockside.

Basic Racing Seminar (Coed)

Prepare for the racing season with this co-ed intro to sailboat racing. Topics include basic rules, tactics, courses, starts and finishes.

OWSA Women's Race Series (women only)

Register before May 30. This is a special series to give women opportunity to explore the exciting world of racing with an all women crew. Each boat will have a mentor. Registration is $20 per crew member including skipper. (mentors excluded.)

Only skippers need to fill out the OCSA race form.
